The elementary school is in need of 3 rubber/plastic rain coats with hoods and 3 pairs of rubber boots for kids that are helping at the bus loading zones.
The kids that help are grades 4-6. Rain coats can range from a men’s small down to a child’s 10. Boots can be men’s 7 and smaller, women’s 8 or smaller or child’s 10 and up.
If you have a rain coat or boots to donate please drop them off with Counselor Mrs. Duus in the elementary office.
***Items MUST be free of smoke & other odors, mildew/mold and tears/rips.
SPRING BOX TOP CONTEST
The 3 classes with the most Box Tops turned in will get a class Butterfly Garden where they get the opportunity to help caterpillars change into chrysalides and then emerge as beautiful Butterflies. These classes will then get to release their butterflies.
Mrs. Hitt will have the butterfly houses on display near the library for everyone to view but ONLY the winning classes will get to care for and release them.
**Submit Box Tops in baggies with Student Name and Teacher Name clearly printed on them. Then decorate the paper butterfly attached to your sheet and put it in with your Box Tops. These will be used to decorate the butterfly habitat area. Keep submitting Box Tops to build your class total until April 4th.
Shopping online can be fun but did you know a percentage of almost every sale from almost every online retailer can benefit your Ocosta PTO??
You can shop through Box Tops Marketplace or eScrip Online Mall and a percentage of your purchase can go to Ocosta PTO! It is easy. Just find your store at either site and click the link to go to that retailer’s website. Shop like normal (if you log off the site and return later – make sure to go back through the link before you check out). A percentage of you sale is tracked through that link and credited to the PTO!
The PTO helps financially support the needs of our teaching staff through mini-grants that they submit to us for needed supplies or materials, student needs, field trips, school assemblies, events and so much more.

Drop off your used inkjet and toner cartridges, cell phones, MP3 players, digital cameras, GPS devices, headsets, and laptops at the elementary office and we will box them up and send them to Funding Factory.
Funding Factory processes the items and sends our PTO a check.
We keep these items out of landfills and fundraise for our school at the same time!

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) – Is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering that organizes fathers and father figures in order to provide positive male role models for the students and to enhance school security. Today, more than 2276 active programs in 41 states participate in the WATCH D.O.G.S. Program.
Who are WatchDOGS? Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by the school principal or other adminstrator.
This fantastic program will be coming to Ocosta! We are hoping to develop a greater male presence on our school campus. To learn more about it come to our Pizza Kick-Off on Oct 18th at 6pm or contact Counselor Tricia Flint at 268-9125 ext 110.

Please send them in with your student or drop off in the front office marked “PTO” & we will get them to a teacher for you. This year we are going to reward kids who turn in 50 Labels for Education points with a free Scholastic Book!
Turn in your points to the school in clearly marked baggies or envelopes with your student’s name, teacher & grade throughout the year. Each time your student hits 50 pts we will reward them with a ”Scholar Dollar” that they can take to the student store and redeem for a Scholastic book from the LFE bookshelf.
You can turn in any amount of points anytime. They will be ”banked” for your student and when they hit 50 pts a “Scholar Dollar” will be awarded and 50 pts deducted from their “bank”. Students can use their Scholar Dollar to get a book for themselves, as a gift for another student, parent or friend or donate it to their classroom. I will try to keep a bigger variety of books around the Christmas season for this reason. Points must be actual UPC points from products. Bonus program points (usually in-store promotions like the recent one at Safeway) are encouraged and can be turned in with your student’s points but will not count towards their Scholar Dollars.
